Pressure Washing Keyword Definitions
At Grateful, we eat, sleep, breath, pressure washing, power washing, and soft wash cleaning services for our St. Louis residential and commercial clients 24/7. It is our wheelhouse, per se. However, we understand that this is most likely not the case for most people. Therefore, we have included this list of commonly used terms to help explain what we do and the pressure washer equipment that we use. We hope this helps, and as always, please contact us if you have any questions or would like a free pressure washing estimate for your St. Louis home or business.
- GPM: Stands for “gallons per minute.” This is also often referred to as “flow rate” GPM is how much water is coming out of the pressure washer per minute.
- CU: Stands for “cleaning units.” This gives measurement of unit performance to compare to other pressure washing units. You determine this by multiplying the PSI and GPM.
- PSI: Stands for “pounds per square inch.” PSI is the amount of pressure a machine can make. The PSI rating will help you determine how powerful the stream of water is.
- Unloader: Part of the pressure washer that lets the pump pass the flow of the water back to the pump while the trigger on the power washing gun is not being used. The unloader acts as a regulator for the output pressure of the pump.
- Softwash: Softwashing is when low pressure and specialized solutions and chemicals are used to safely remove mildew, bacteria, algae and stains from building exteriors such as roofs or siding.
- Power Wash: high-pressure stream of very hot water to blast away dirt and other undesireables. You can not use power washing on all surfces as it may cause damage.
